Editor’s Letter: February
Can you feel a little change in the air? It’s only slight, but it’s in the morning birdsong; it’s in the snowdrops, and the glimmers of daffodils peeking through; and it’s there when you look out the window at 5pm and realise it’s getting lighter.
Derbyshire is slowly beginning to awaken from its winter slumber, and there’s a definite promise of spring. But let’s not forget the quiet charm of late winter: February is still very much a time for cosying up with good books and hearty meals, but it certainly feels good to step outside and see nature’s gentle awakening.
This month, I’ll be embarking on mindful countryside walks and sharing my go-to guide for spotting early signs of spring in both flowers and wildlife. We’ll be sharing more exciting events across Derbyshire and the Peak District on our ‘What’s On?’ page. Plus, there’ll be a review of the newly refurbished, Chatsworth-owned Cavendish Hotel.
As we move through February, let’s cherish these final winter days. Find joy in the warmth of the roaring fire, the crisp air of a morning stroll, and the quiet anticipation of brighter days ahead. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the seasonal beauty of the Derbyshire countryside.
Wishing you warmth and inspiration this February,
Olivia x
